PRO-LIFE ISSUES

Is Embryonic Stem Cell Research Morally Complex

When advocates of embryonic stem cell research say that we have a moral obligation to save lives and promote cures, what they really mean is that human embryos should be cloned and killed for medical research.  But you'd never know it listening to their rhetoric.  Now I'm all for saving lives.  I'm also for stem cell research.  But I'm opposed to one kind of stem cell research that requires killing defenseless human beings so others can benefit.

How to Defend Your Pro-Life Views in 5 Minutes or Less

Okay, here's a really quick read.  Suppose that you have just five minutes to defend your pro-life position with pro-choice friends or classmates.  Can you do it with rational arguments that even a non-Christian will accept?  What should you say to clarify the abortion issue?  Here's how to succeed in three easy steps.

Toddler Tactics

The next time somebody tells you that abortion is a complex issue that is too hot to handle, don't fall for it.  Trot out a toddler and simplify things right away.

Abortion Debate: A Short Defense of the Pro-Life Position

Here's what to argue when it's time to defend your pro-life views in the classroom or the public square.  Don't wait for a friendly crowd.  Make a case for life today.  Repeats some material from earlier posts, but structures it so it can be used in secular environments.

Five Bad Ways to Argue About Abortion

Pro-life advocates argue their case with science and philosophy, but their pro-choice critics do not always respond in kind.  If you are pro-choice, here are some really bad arguments you'll want to avoid.  Not one justifies abortion.  If you are pro-life, study these bad arguments carefully.  They are the most common objections raised against your view in the popular culture.

Dead Silence: Must the Bible Say Abortion is Wrong Before We Know It's Wrong?

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice is wrong.  True, the Bible doesn't specifically mention abortion.  Nor does the Bible directly condemn it.  And, to make things interesting, I'll even grant that none of the Scriptures traditionally used by pro-life advocates (Psalm 139, for example) establishes the humanity of the unborn.  But if you think the alleged silence of Scripture justifies abortion, you are mistaken.  The Biblical case against the practice is compelling and I don't need a Bible verse to prove it.  One key question clarifies everything.
